The dispatches reporting the Battle of Trafalgar, written by Admiral Collingwood after Nelson’s death, were entrusted to Lieutenant Lapenotiere of 'Pickle', the fleet’s fast and weatherly Bermuda-built schooner, just 127 tons. Beating against foul weather, 'Pickle' made the voyage to Falmouth in eight days.
